Domain transfer
Transfer your domain without taking the site offline.
With the auth code from your current provider you start the transfer in the portal. We read your DNS records and carry them over so website and mail keep running.

- Auth code is enough
- DNS carried over
- Domain stays reachable

01
What a domain transfer moves, and what it does not
This is the most important information before you start.
A transfer changes which provider the domain is registered with and where the nameservers point. That is all. Mailboxes and website files stay where they are and do not move automatically.
That is why our assistant reads your existing DNS records before the start, including A records, MX for mail, SPF, DKIM and more. During the move it creates them with us so website and mail keep running unchanged. If you deliberately run DNS at an external service such as Cloudflare, you choose to keep the current nameservers instead. Then only the registrar changes.
If you also want website or mailboxes with us, you move them separately. We help in a ticket to plan the order so there is no gap.
Transfer = registration and DNS pointers. You move mailboxes and website separately.
02
The process in four steps
With an auth code, no paperwork.
Prepare with your current provider
Get the auth code (also called EPP code) and lift the transfer lock on the domain. Also check that the holder email on file is reachable.
Start the transfer in the portal
You enter domain and auth code and choose whether we carry over your DNS records or the nameservers stay as they are.
Confirmation and waiting
Depending on the extension and your current provider, the old provider confirms the transfer or lets a deadline pass. That can take minutes to a few days. The domain stays reachable meanwhile.
Completion and check
We inform you when the transfer has started, when it is still open after a few days and when it is complete. Afterwards you manage DNS, DNSSEC and auth code yourself in the portal.
For many extensions a domain may not be moved again right after registration or an earlier transfer. If your transfer runs into that, your current provider tells you the earliest date.
03
Checklist before the transfer
Five minutes that save trouble later.
- Auth code in hand
- No transfer works without the auth code. With your current provider you find it in the domain area or request it there.
- Transfer lock lifted
- Most providers lock domains against unwanted transfers by default. Lift the lock before you start.
- Holder email reachable
- Some providers send a confirmation to the holder address. If it is outdated, it never arrives.
- Mail and website noted
- Write down where mail and website currently run before changing anything. It gives you certainty if something needs checking.
- Pick a calm moment
- Do not start the transfer right before an important date. It usually goes smoothly, but a buffer makes sense.

What is possible after the move
What you hold in your hands afterwards.
- Edit DNS in the portal
- Set A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, SRV, NS and CAA yourself.
- Your own nameservers
- On request they point to an external DNS service if you want to run it that way.
- Auth code any time
- You fetch it yourself if you want to switch again later.
- Everything in one account
- Manage domain, web hosting and mail hosting together instead of searching across three providers.

Questions about moving a domain
Answered briefly.
Buy & manage a domain All domain features Web hosting Mail hosting Help & contact
01
How do I move an existing domain to you?
You get the auth code from your current provider, lift the transfer lock and start the transfer in the portal. The domain stays reachable during the move.
02
Will I lose my email during the transfer?
The transfer itself moves neither mailboxes nor mail. On request it carries over your DNS records so mail reception keeps working. You move mailbox contents separately, and we help with that in a ticket.
03
Is the website switched off during the move?
No. If you choose to carry over the DNS records, the domain keeps pointing to the same targets. The website files stay with your current provider until you move them.
04
What is an auth code?
An authorisation code your current provider gives you for the transfer. It proves you may control the domain. It is also called EPP code or AuthInfo.
05
How long does a transfer take?
It depends on the extension and your current provider and ranges from minutes to a few days. We notify you at the start, remind you if the wait is long and report completion.
06
What does the transfer cost?
It is charged at the registration price of the extension. You see the exact amount before you confirm in the checkout.
07
Can I move my domain away again later?
Yes. You fetch the auth code yourself in the portal at any time. We do not hold anyone back.
08
May I keep external nameservers?
Yes. Then only the registrar changes and your DNS records stay at the external service.
