Squad Hotfix 10.6.1: Party UI and Stability Fixes

Overview

Shortly after launching Update 10.6, Offworld Industries pushed out Hotfix 10.6.1 to tackle some of the most noticeable problems reported by players. The patch concentrates on the new Party system and the overall navigability of the front-end UI, alongside a batch of general stability improvements. The developers note that several larger issues - such as the tracked-vehicle bug, broader UI concerns, and terrain/collision problems on certain maps - are still under investigation and will be addressed in a future update.

Party System Improvements

The Party UI, introduced with Update 10.6, received several refinements in this hotfix:

  • Players can now collapse the Party panel from any screen except the Home screen, giving more control over screen space.
  • A bug that caused the Party UI to push part of the interface to the side has been fixed, restoring normal layout behavior.
  • An issue that incorrectly displayed a player's party status as "locked" has been corrected, so status indicators now reflect the actual state.

These changes should make the party system feel less intrusive while squads are forming up before a match.

General Front-End Fixes

A handful of smaller but frequently reported issues with the server browser and general client behavior have also been resolved:

  • White bars that appeared on the server browser have been removed.
  • Map and layer names that previously overflowed their display boxes are now properly truncated.
  • Duplicate "Browser Detail" panels that stacked on top of one another when repeatedly opened have been fixed.
  • The client no longer hitches noticeably when populating the in-game Friends list.
  • The time it takes for the client to fully close after exiting the game has been shortened.
  • Rebinding controls is now more reliable: pressing the backslash key while assigning a key no longer kicks players out of the control settings menu.

On the map side, Tallil received a visual fix for mortar craters, which previously appeared as untextured, grey blocks instead of proper terrain damage.

Server-Side Crash Fix

Alongside the client-facing changes, a server-only fix was deployed to resolve a crash issue affecting some servers. Offworld asked server admins and players to keep submitting crash reports together with game logs, as this information is essential for the programming team to trace and resolve remaining stability problems.

Known Issues Still in Progress

Offworld acknowledged that this hotfix does not resolve every problem introduced or re-surfaced with Update 10.6. Notable outstanding issues include a bug affecting the behavior of tracked vehicles, continued rough edges in the UI, and terrain/collision glitches on specific maps. The Community, QA, Design, Production, and Programming teams are reviewing player reports through the weekend to prepare the next hotfix, though its exact contents will depend on how quickly each issue can be reproduced and fixed.

What Players Can Do

The studio is encouraging players to keep reporting bugs in detail, whether in existing threads or new discussions. Detailed reports - including logs for crashes - help the team prioritize and verify fixes faster, ultimately speeding up the release of the next update.
