Enshrouded 1.0 is live: What changes for players and servers

Enshrouded 1.0 has launched
Keen Games released Enshrouded 1.0 on October 15, 2026, ending the Early Access phase. Existing saves remain compatible, but they are converted to a new format on first launch. Server operators should create a complete backup of world, character and configuration data before updating.
A complete world and a new endgame
Version 1.0 opens the complete map of Embervale. The new northern region, Cinder’s Cradle, combines lava fields and ruins with floating islands. Existing biomes receive additional areas and two more Hollow Halls become available. Progression also expands:
- player level cap 50
- equipment upgrades up to level 55
- additional Flame levels and up to 15 Flame Altars
- new crafting tiers, tools, food, spells and building materials
- a new survivor specializing in Ancient knowledge
Combat, building and quality of life
The new region introduces 14 enemy types; including variants across other factions, Keen Games lists 37 new enemy faces. Mage builds gain nine new spell types, eternal spells can be upgraded, and summons add new build options. Targeting, ranged combat, movement and camera behavior have also been revised.
Sparkworks is one of the most notable additions for builders. The logic system can power switches, traps, puzzles, arenas and custom adventures. A free-flying build mode, upgradeable storage chests and named map markers further improve long-running worlds.
Technology and visuals
The new brick renderer improves distant terrain and voxel-building detail. Lighting, atmosphere and global illumination have been revised, while HDR is now supported. Keen Games also reports lower memory requirements and better performance, plus substantially shorter shader compilation after updates or graphics-driver changes.
What existing servers should do
Early Access saves can continue in 1.0, but the save format is converted and the skill tree is reset. A cautious update procedure is recommended:
- Stop the server cleanly.
- Back up world, character and configuration data.
- Update server files and container images where applicable.
- Check logs, memory use and connectivity after launch.
- Tell players that skill points must be assigned again.
Hotfix 1.0.0.1 followed shortly after release. It addresses random crashes, dynamic-lighting problems and crashes linked to certain peripherals. Keen Games also documented known audio and world-editing issues. Server operators should therefore watch for further hotfixes and apply each one only after a verified backup.
Conclusion
Enshrouded 1.0 is more than a version-number change. The complete world, expanded endgame, Sparkworks and technical changes matter to both new players and established communities. Operators of persistent worlds should plan the migration, verify backups and perform a short functional test after every update.
