Eco Hotfix 14.2.1: Civic Fixes, Economy Polish, and Performance Gains

Hotfix 14.2.1 addresses a wide range of issues across civics, economy, gameplay, and server performance, alongside several UI and visual refinements.

Civics

Settlement governance received its biggest round of fixes in a while. New civic values let players check whether a citizen is a settlement leader, how many citizens have voted in an election, and who holds a settlement's leader title.

Several bugs around claim stakes and settlement foundations were resolved: picking up a stake no longer destroys it or duplicates claim papers, and moving an unfounded settlement's foundation now correctly moves its area of influence. Built-in settlement civics (leader title, constitution, demographics, elections, immigration policy) can no longer be accidentally overwritten, handed to another settlement, or reset to draft status when their housing object loses influence or gets disabled.

Economy

Store and trade behavior is more consistent now. Wood shop carts can only be configured by their owners, newly dragged store offers start with "No Price Set" instead of absurd default prices, and clearing a price now properly disables trading until a new one is set. Minimum bank balances no longer block purchases, and the transfer window only shows currencies actually held in the selected account.

Gameplay

Throwing away large amounts of garbage now shows a confirmation dialog with the number of blocks it will fill, and the resulting garbage bags are placed across all affected blocks instead of spilling messily after decay.

Other gameplay fixes include:

  • Storage destroyed by explosions now drops its real contents instead of deleting them.
  • Dumpster loader containers survive server restarts and are placed more precisely.
  • Felled trees no longer disappear or leave unreachable logs when hit while falling.
  • Filtering machines stop output once full instead of overflowing.
  • Barge ramps can raise properly with trucks aboard.
  • Vehicles without storage can be picked up without needing a hammer first.
  • Two rooms touching only at a corner no longer merge incorrectly.

Performance

This update brings substantial server-side improvements. Terrain loading is faster and smoother, world objects update in parallel to reduce lag spikes, and machines use far less memory, shortening cleanup pauses. Long pipe networks and liquid producers now consume much less server time, and large, long-played worlds start significantly faster thanks to a leaner economy history database.

Loading has also been tuned for movement: terrain and objects ahead of fast-moving players load first, nearby vehicles appear sooner, and repeatedly revisiting the edge of the view distance no longer causes redundant reloading.

UI

The market analysis window now includes a whole-market chart when no item is selected, sortable columns with direction indicators, a scrollable offers panel, and larger, clearer text and pie charts. Several display bugs were also fixed, including crafting tables incorrectly reporting missing materials, infinite buy offers showing a misleading quantity, and food tooltips always claiming peak freshness regardless of actual condition.

Visuals

Rendering fixes include correct ocean visibility behind object-based water (like fountains), faster appearance of trees and objects above deep mines, and proper underwater fog when viewed through glass touching water. Distant trees and plants no longer pop in or out awkwardly as terrain loads.

Miscellaneous and Modding

Proximity voice chat no longer breaks after crossing the world edge, Ecopedia tabs keep their icons when mods add pages, and outdated mod block effects are now skipped instead of spamming errors. For modders, the Dumpster Loader now correctly handles containers with multiple storages, and new trade offers created in code start without a default price.

Server & Configs

Server-side reliability improvements include fixes for player login edge cases during disconnects, safer shutdown handling for statistics saving, and faster shop list and trade history loading on servers with long trading records. A new TrackRuntimePauses option in Performance.eco logs significant server pauses for easier diagnostics.

Mod.io Integration

Text cutoff issues in the mod browsing UI at high display scaling were fixed, along with incorrect rendering of special characters in mod descriptions.
